FOOTBALL: Posh's Welsh international goal keeper Tony Millington was selected to play for a Wales select 11 against Manchester United in an Investiture celebration match at Bangor.
CRICKET: Martin Allpress (13) became the youngest player to compete in the Evening Telegraph's single wicket competition for Peterborough Town, but lost out to Jeff Harris of Milton and Longthorpe.
FOOTBALL: Youngster Richard Burkett had the 'proudest moment' of his career when named Western Star's Footballer of the Year.
POSH: Summer signings Bobby Moss (Fulham), Eddie Holliday (Workington) and former Leicester full-back Brian Potts become the first players to model the new kit ahead of their Division Four campaign.

CRICKET: Peterborough Town's young all-rounder Gary Rice hammered 45 in a third wicket stand of 62 with Alan Tait (42 not out) to fire his side to a 57-run Jaidka Cup win against Ramsey.
SPEEDWAY: Nigel Flatman was named the Evening Telegraph Rider of the Month ahead of rival Dave Gooderham after picking up 76 points from eight league fixtures in June.
ARCHERY: Cambs county champion Joyce Asher won the Pilgrim Bowmen's Trophy at Boston while British champion Dennis Savory took the men's title.
DARTS: 18 year-old Steve Jackson from Kings Dyke and Steve Hammond (14) pulled off a shock by making it through to the last four of the Summer Clubs Darts League singles.
CRICKET: Young Brotherhoods batsman Steve Hair edged towards the 1,000 run mark after cracking his second century of the season in an eight wicket Millman Cup win over Sandy.
POSH: Manager Peter Morris was hoping to recoup in the region of 40,000 by selling striker Barry Butlin and midfield man Billy McEwan.
SPEEDWAY: Ken Matthews made a hero's return to Panthers with a seven (paid nine) point haul in a 41-37 win against Nottingham at Alwalton.
ATHLETICS: Just two days after breaking the world 800m record in a time of 1.42.33 in Oslo, it was revealed Seb Coe had agreed to line up at the Dewhurst Games in Spalding later that month where a crowd of 10,000 was anticipated.

CRICKET: A team of David McQuillen, Lionel Butler, Barry Morris, Mick Mayes, Alan Porter, Paul Venters, Billy Hall, Alan Venters, Paul Bowes, Colin Slater, Stuart Butler, Chandrakant Bhima and Jack Gray secured a 65-run win for Old Deaconians over Deacon's School in the Huggard Trophy.ROWING: Peterborough City Rowing Clubs senior 3 team of John Dale, Ian Hitchins, Stewart Speechly and Martin Trundle beat Leeds University in the final of the Leeds Regatta.
MARTIAL ARTS: Eight year-old Glenn Hayden won the free sparring event while brother Jason, 12 won the weapons class as the pair were crowned European Champions in Holland.
WEIGHTLIFTING: Stephen Ward won the 67kg section while fellow city star Ben Devonshire won the 57kg class in an international featuring Great Britain, West Germany and France in Germany.
CRICKET: A superb 74 not out for Empingham's Kevin Lambert helped the holders to a stunning 42 run win against Castor in the first round of the Burghley sixes.
GOLF: Suzanne Sharp (18) set a new course record of 77 on her way to claiming the Ladies Open title at Thorpe Wood. Sharp also collected the Peggy Hopkin Salver for the best net score with 67.
FOOTBALL: Ex-Posh and Ireland international David Langan was the new player boss at United Counties First Division Ramsey.

FOOTBALL: In a move which shocked local football, Wisbech manager Darren Bloodworth signed former Ipswich Town midfielder Leo Cotterell.
CRICKET: Martin Richardson took career best figures of 8-20 for Stilton in a Hunts League Division Four victory over St Neots.
CYCLING: Fenland Clarion cyclist Paul Nunn claimed victory in the Welwyn Track 15-lap Scratch event in only his third appearance at the venue.
SWIMMING: Scott Campbell, Holly Jacklin, Lawrence Stafford, Rachel Connor and Tom Jacklin all recorded personal bests as Chatteris Kingfishers won the Jewson Sprint Gala at Dereham.
TENNIS: A team including Alan Jordan and John Rudd secured the Peterborough League First Division title with eight wins from nine matches following a 9-0 whitewash of Stamford B.
ATHLETICS: Peterborough Athletic Club's Femi Akinsanya finished third in the triple jump at an international in Budapest, Hungary. He leapt 16.33m.
POSH: Former Arsenal star Paul Read began training at London Road after being released on a free transfer by Wycombe.
ATHLETICS: Peterborough Athletic Club's golden boy Rob Charlesworth threw 60.92m to be crowned national Under 23 javelin champion at Bedford.
POSH: Chairman Peter Boizot slashed admission prices for pre-season friendlies against Notts Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich to thank fans for superb season ticket sales.
