George Russell from Wisbech gained two top 10 finishes in the fourth round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at Monza at the weekend.
Despite struggling to find the perfect set-up in qualifying, 17 year-old Russell placed the car in ninth and 14th for the two races.
He put in a strong performance in race one to make up a place and finish eighth and in race two he made a lightning start before moving up eight places to finish sixth.
Russell said: “All in all we had two very good races, but we just really need to work on our qualifying performance. We haven’t quite optimised that yet and it’s really hindering our races. But we’ll keep pushing and come back fighting for the next round at Spa.”
Round 5 of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship season takes place at Spa-Francorchamps on June 19-21.
