Two city kick-boxing clubs are celebrating a glut of national championship wins.

Seven members of the Peterborough BCKA Club attended the recent World Karate & Kick-boxing Commission (WKKC) national championships in Bradford and all of them returned with medals.

Leading the way with two gold medals each were Jaden Harris, Freya Molloy and Eddy Paddock.

The Hicks Karate School took part in the International Sport Kick-boxing Associatopn (ISKA) British Championships in Solihull.

They had 14 members in action and most achieved top three finishes.

Star of the show was Jake Peppercorn who won two gold medals in the 13-17 year black belt category.

Chief instructor Andrew Hicks said: “It was a great day out and to achieve what we did against some of the country’s best martial artists was a great effort. For many of our students this was their first time competing at such a high level.

“Myself and instructor Atlanta Hickman are proud of the whole team who held their own against some tough opponents from up and down the country.”
