City gymnast Jake Jarman was celebrating a superb win at the British Championships in Liverpool at the weekend.
The talented 15 year-old from Deepings School won the Under 16 all-round title at the Echo Arena taking the gold with a glorious performance on all six pieces of apparatus.
He finished with an overall score of 76.4 to edged out Adam Tobin from Devon by just three tenths. Sam Mostowi from Pegasus Gym Club in Kent took bronze.
Huntingdon Gymnastics Club member Jarman also took four apparatus medals, winning the British title on parallell bars and taking the silver on rings and horizontal bar and the bronze for the floor exercise.
Jarman’s coach, Ben Howells, said: “This was a fantastic performance from Jake, who competed solidly and with a skill level ahead of his years.
“He has worked so hard for this result and has proved that he is a potential hope for major events in the years to come.
“We now focus on gaining selection for GB international representation at a four-way match in Ipswich next month and the European Youth Olympic Festival in Hungary in the summer.”
Huntingdon Gymnastics Club were also well represented by Harry O’ Driscoll, who finished 14th in the Under 18 section, and Benji Eyre, who finished 10th in the senior competition.
The men’s British title was won by Joe Fraser from the City of Birmingham Club, and Ellie Downie of Nottingham Gym Club took the ladies title.
