Junior Football: Sam's strike seals Sixes success for Thorney

Under 10s

Under 10sThorney Colts were the winners of the Under 10's trophy at the Deeping Sixes tournament on Bank Holiday Monday.

After heading their group without conceding a goal, Thorney beat Spalding 3-2 in the semi-final before taking on Werrington in the final.

A goal by Sam Holmes following a free-kick by Jack Cain was enough to seal a 1-0 victory after a tight game.

Manager Tim Cain said: "It's a great achievement to win this trophy and I'm really pleased for the boys that all their hard work and effort has brought a reward, especially after a very tough season.

"It was a nerve-wracking final and we had to hang on a bit, but I'm really proud of the guts and determination shown throughout the team".
