BOURNE Claret have conceeded just one goal all season but they had to work hard to protect that record in a 2-0 League Cup win against Blackstones.Clarets goalkeeper Keenan Murphy was once again at his best to deny Blue Zone rivals Stones while Karl Moore and Ben Moss made the most of what came their way at the other end.

Manager David Dodds said: "It was probably the toughest game of this season for us and I am really pleased that we came through it with the win. It sets us up well for our league clash with Deeping which is a massive must win game for us if we want to stay in with a chance of the title."

CUP holders Deeping warmed up for that top-of-the-table clash with an 8-0 win against Northborough seeing them safely through to the last eight.

Jack Eldridge and Josh Smith both hit hat-tricks with Jack Baker and an own goal rounding things off for Nigel Smith's red-hot side.

Smith said: "I have a great bunch of lads in this team and we really do hope to make it back to the final after winning it last year."

Another team with a good chance of making the grade in this competition are Hampton Red who enjoyed a comfortable passage into the quarter-finals with a 9-0 win against Glinton.

Bradley Catton and Corey Dann led the way for the unbeaten Reds with two goals apiece with Dylan Kilford, Mark Rayment, Liam Hatfield, James Ward and Jack Keenan also on target.

EMMA Pollard made sure the girls would have at least one representative in the quarter-finals with one of the goals in Yaxley's 2-0 win against Powerleague.

George Lindsey was the other scorer for the current Red Zone leaders.

A SUPER stop from keeper Liam Soames helped King's Cliffe Red Kites through to the next round after a penalty shoot-out win against Richard Scott Soccer School.

Goals for William Taylor (2) and Thomas Knox saw the Kites force extra-time but the scores remained locked at 3-3 meaning penalties were required to settle the issue.

And thanks to a cracking save from Soames, Kites booked their place in the last eight after winning 4-3 from the spot.
