THERE was double delight for Peterborough Diamonds as two of their teams captured league title honours. The first-ever Diamonds Ladies team capped their debut season in senior football by lifting the Fenland & District Ladies League crown after coming through a winner-takes-all end-of-season showdown against city rivals Hampton.

Dani Croucher helped herself to a hat-trick and Joyce Worth delivered a double during a five-star 5-0 title-sealing showing.

Manager Richard Evans said: "It has been a wonderful first season at this level and we put in another outstanding display to get the job done against Hampton. As a club Diamonds turn out quality players year after year."

And Diamonds Under 12s provided another cause for celebration by wrapping up the Cambs League crown when brushing aside Alconbury.

Elizabeth Steele broke the deadlock before a host of other first-half chances went begging. But the goals began to flow after the break as Steele struck again, Jessica Driscoll netted a third and Rhianne Criddle celebrated her return from illness by adding the final gloss.

Diamonds keeper Georgia Clarke made a host of fine saves at the other end, including keeping out a penalty.

Diamonds coach Adrian Clarke said: "Our girls were once again great."

DIAMONDS Under 13s signed off in style from the Cambs League – by gunning down champions Royston.

Phil Pavey's runners-up ran out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Chloe Pavey, Jordan Sampson and a brace from Lauren Johnson. It was the perfect warm-up for a League Cup final date this weekend.

Boss Pavey said: "We dropped silly points earlier in the season, but the girls should be proud of their first season playing 11-a-side football."

A hat-trick from classy Cassie Steward and a fine brace from Alisha Coleman did the trick along with further goals from both Georgia Newman and Elizabeth Walker.

IT is two down and one to go for the winning machines of Whittlesey Under 15s.

Pasky Ciarla's brilliant bunch added the Cambs League title to their county cup crown on Saturday.

Whittlesey roared to a 7-1 win over Bishop's Stortford at their Feldale Field base to move into an unassailable position at the head of affairs.

Louise Burgess and Chelsea Milne both bagged braces with league top scorer Britt Ciarla, Leanne Cain and Rachel Anderson also finding the net.

Golden boot Ciarla was striking for the 30th time during a prolific season while Anderson fired her first goal for the club.

The bumper haul took Whittlesey's goal tally in league action to 67 and their mean defence have conceded just five times.

And an honours double could turn into a terrific treble this weekend. Whittlesey face Cambridge City in the League Cup final on Saturday.

Manager Ciarla said: "The girls have been excellent all season and I can have no complaints with any of them whatsoever.

"Winning the county cup a year above our age group was an excellent achievement and it was nice to get the league done and dusted as well.

"Bishop's Stortford are a decent team, but we have goals all over the pitch and that is showing through in our results.

"Long may it continue and hopefully we can get another result in the League Cup final."
