POSH will start their Championship campaign at Nigel Clough's Derby County on August 8.Two mouth-watering home games against West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday – teams with impressive away support – follow at London Road before Posh travel to meet Sean St Ledger and Preston North End at Deepdale.
But Posh fans will have to wait for the eagerly-anticipated fixture at home to Newcastle which takes place on Easter Saturday, April 3. Posh travel to St James' Park on November 7.
Other attractive matches at London Road include Reading (September 19), Nottingham Forest (October 3), Middlesbrough (November 28) and Leicester (April 10). Posh are at West Brom on Boxing Day and Barnsley visit on Easter Monday.
Posh director of football Barry Fry said: "It could hardly have been any better. There will be 30,000 at Pride Park on the opening day and Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom will fill the away end at London Road to help create brilliant atmospheres.
"Seeing the fixture list really drives home how far we've come. There are so many great games to look forward to."
Posh met Derby on the opening day of the 1992-93 season – the club's very first fixture at this level. Posh won 1-0 that day through a Ken Charlery goal.
Clough moved to Derby from Blue Square Premier League champions Burton Albion towards the end of last season.
During his time at Burton Clough masterminded the non-league club's shock FA Cup win over Mark Wright's Posh.
Posh finish the season on Sunday, May 2 with their longest trip of the season to Plymouth.
Posh shouldn't lack for support this season. The club sold over 5,600 season tickets before taking them off sale 10 days ago.
