Phantoms coach Slava Koulikov has handed British prospect Mason Webster a deal until the end of the season.
The former Chelmsford and Haringey man (20) impressed during a two-week trial and will now remain with the city club as they chase a top-four finish in the English Premier League.
Koulikov said: “We brought Mason in to have a look at him over a couple of weeks and I like what I’ve seen. He has proved he can play at this level and it is great to have guys like him who want to break into the team.
“He is a gritty guy who can handle himself when necessary. He is strong on the puck as well and is willing to learn to improve his game after stepping up a league.
“He knows what we are trying to achieve and we need competition for places to do that.”
Webster is one of two mid-season additions to the club’s forward ranks. Sixteen year-old Martins Susters has also been handed a deal to the end of the campaign.
