Hot prospect Martins Susters fired four first-period goals to set Peterborough Islanders on the way to a handsome Sunday success.

Teenage forward Susters and Great Britain Under 20 defenceman Cam McGiffin, who claimed four assists, both stepped in to boost the short-benched city second team with Phantoms out of action.

Susters did the majority of the damage in a 7-0 victory at Basingstoke Buffalo in Group B of the National League South Two Cup.

He struck twice in the space of 21 seconds during the fourth minute and then added another brace of goals little more than a minute apart later in the opening session.

A fifth goal from Brad Moore meant Islanders effectively had the points in the bag before the first buzzer sounded and they had to wait until the closing stages for further goals.

Clint Herring took their tally to six before Moore hit his second to complete a resounding win which came complete with a 27-shot shut-out for netminder Adam Long.
