Slough Jets 5, Phantoms 2 - Disappointment as Phantoms fail to bring down the Jets
English Premier League: SATURDAY night (28 January) proved to be one big disappointment for Phantoms.
Not only did they fail to pick up any points from their trip to the Hangar, to make matters worse EPL Play-Off rivals Bracknell Bees managed to upset the formbook against Manchester Phoenix.
Chris Allen and his players had been hoping the reigning champions could do them a favour at the Hive but it was the Bees who took the points to leave Phantoms trailing the Berkshire side by three points.
After a scoreless first period, during which Phantoms just about held their own, the Jets got on top early in the middle act when Aaron Connolly opened the scoring.
Just over a minute later Dan Davies doubled the home side’s advantage before Darius Pliskauskas made it 3-0 by the end of the period.
However, a strong start to the third saw Phantoms reduce their arrears when Ondrej Lauko struck twice to pull it back to 3-2 and leave his side in with a real shout of nicking something from the game.
But following a timeout with 10 minutes to play, the Jets re-took the initiative when Connolly notched his second of the game to make it 4-2.
And when Davies doubled his tally for the night with three minutes to play, Phantoms didn’t have a ghost of a chance.
