Phantoms 2010/11 fixtures: New coach has chance of a winning start

Peterborough Phantoms will be looking to set the record straight this season after a disappointing 2009-10 campaign.

Having suffered their worst ever start to an English Premier League (EPL) campaign last season by losing their first nine games, Phantoms will be hoping to avoid a repeat this time round.

And on the face of it new coach Curtis Cruickshank has a decent shot of opening up with a win at Basingstoke Bison on Saturday September 25.

The Bison dropped into the EPL last season having previously played in the Elite League but Steve Moria’s side ultimately failed to live up to expectations finishing just one place above Phantoms in fifth.

Sunday’s home clash against Slough Jets could prove to be slightly tricker, however, with the 2010 play-off champions beating Phantoms on four of the six occasions the two teams met last term.

October brings more winnable games with only an away fixture against EPL Cup holders and perennial league favourites, the Guildford Flames, looking like a potential banana skin.

But having changed their coach and added some decent looking players to the roster, Phantoms should be confident of getting off to a far better start which will be crucial in a league that continues to increase in competiveness year on year.
