He might have 33 on his back, but there is no doubt Janis Auzins is the number one in the English Premier League.

The Latvian netminder completed a sensational debut season on these shores with back-to-back man-of-the-match awards during the Play-Off finals weekend in Coventry.

Auzins has been the star performer for Phantoms throughout their trophy-winning campaign and the 23 year-old was thrilled by the first honours of his playing career.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Auzins. “It is the first time I have been a champion and it feels so good. We have played so well all season and we did it again in the play-offs. We definitely deserved to win.

“The guys work so hard in front of me and we also have the best fans in the league. I love to play for the Peterborough supporters.”
