Peterborough Phantoms have signed veteran Czech forward Ales Padelek for the 2015/16 season.

Padelek (35) is no stranger to the EPIHL having iced for the Slough Jets in the 2013/14 season, before returning to the Czech leagues. Padelek is currently playing for the Sydney Bears in the AIHL alongside former Phantoms netminder Kamil Jarina.

During his previous term in the EPIHL, Ales played 51 games scoring 32 goals for 48 points in all competitions.

Phantoms head coach Slava Koulikov said: “I was looking for an experienced player to complete my import roster. I needed a player that can solely change the game and lead a team. So I am very pleased that we have signed Paddy this season.

“Paddy has already had a spell in the UK, when he played for me in Slough two seasons ago. I got to know him very well, He is a true team guy who works hard for the team in all situations, and more importantly he is a nice person”.

“Paddy has great experience including playing for the Czech National Team and Czech Extra League, which is one of the best league in Europe. He has great stats in which ever league or country he plays in.

“With a great shot and brilliant skating ability, he can score big goals. Overall he is good on the puck and will bring a lot of control to the powerplay unit with his excellent playmaking skills.”

Padelek added: “I spoke to Slava before last season, but I was unable to commit at that time. We stayed in touch so that after my season we could speak about the future. I am really happy to become a Phantom and can’t wait for the season to start.”
