Star netminder Janis Auzins is returning to Peterborough Phantoms next season.
The Latvian ace was a key figure in Phantoms’ successful 2014/2015 campaign which culminated in Play-Off glory in Coventry and fans will be delighted to hear the news of his return.
In his English Premier League debut season, he finished with an impressive goals against average of 3.00 having faced 1873 shots with a save percentage of 91.67%.
Speaking about his return, Auzins said: “I am happy to be signing back to the Peterborough Phantoms. The fans are great, I love my team-mates and we have great staff around us.
“Last season was an amazing season, so it was an easy decision not to change anything!
“I hope next season I will play much better and that I will hear the fans shouting my name again!”
Phantoms head coach Slava Koulikov welcomed Auzins’ return saying: “Janis, in my view, is the best goalie in the EPL and that’s enough reason to bring him back.
“He got stronger and stronger as the season went on and was outstanding in the last four games of the season and we all know what that led to.
“He is a franchise player and I judge them on big games and he has been a big game player for us.”
