Phantoms will take their time with young talents

Peterborough Phantoms head coach Jon Kynaston has told two of his brightest young stars to be patient.

Kynaston insists he will not rush the development of city lad Lewis Hook (16) and Scottish teenager Jordan Cownie (17) despite both catching the eye in the early weeks of the new season.

Kynaston said: “They are young lads who want to be on the ice all the time, but they will be slotted in as and when we see fit.

“They are players for the future and the here and now is about learning for them.”

Hook enjoyed his first taste of competitive senior hockey in the English Premier League last weekend while Cownie scored a super individual goal as Phantoms saw off Milton Keynes in their traditional pre-season ‘Ashes’ challenge.
