Phantoms coach Slava Koulikov praised the English Premier League debut display of rookie netminder Adam Long.
The 20 year-old was deployed for the final two periods of the city side’s 11-0 destruction of bottom side Hull last Sunday.
And Long impressed as he kept out all 26 shots he faced to secured a shut-out after Janis Auzins had gone unbeaten in the opening session.
Koulikov said: “Adam can be very proud of his performance and I’m very happy for him to finish with a shut-out.
“People will see the result and think it was an easy night, but he had to deal with plenty of shots and he also helped us to kill a couple of penalties.
“He stood tall whenever Hull threatened and did very well.”
Long is one of two back-up goalies along with Dan Lane. Both men divide their time between Phantoms duties and playing for the Peterborough Islanders.
