City of Peterborough Ladies are on the verge of promotion from East Division Two North West following a hard fought 2-1 win over St Neots at Bretton Gate on Saturday (February 21).
A draw at home to Alford this weekend (Feruary 28, 2.30pm start) would probably seal the deal, but three points definitely would. And City still have five games to play.
City started superbly against St Neots with a first-minute goal from teenage sensation Tierney Augustine, but the home side had to wait until the early stages of the second period before Augustine claimed her second goal of the match. Claire Steels created that one.
St Neots pulled one back 10 minutes from time, but City held on to edge closer to an immediate return to Division One.
City have two chances to get over the line this weekend as they also host Cambridge Univeristy seconds at Thomas Deacon Acadamey on Sunday (March 1).
Chelsea Oldham scored her first goal for City seconds in a 3-3 draw with Alford in Division Two North West last weekend. Emma Faux (penalty) and Rhianne Saunders scored the goals.
