What a difference a season makes.

Last year Spalding pipped City of Peterborough Ladies to top spot in East Division Two North West thanks to a late-season victory in a title decider.

But it’s City who have found their feet quickly In Division One North and yesterday’s (November 14) 6-0 thumping highlighted the gulf that now exists between the sides. City are now third in the table just three points off top spot, while Spalding are next-to-bottom a full seven points behind the team just above them.

And this was one-way traffic from the first whistle at Bretton Gate as City stretched their unbeaten run to six matches.

Robyn Gribble will steal the headlines thanks to a superb hat-trick which earned her the player-of-the-match award, but it was a stunning all-round team effort in the absence of star striker Tierney Augustine.

Anna Faux grabbed her first goal of the season, while Lauren Finding and Rhianne Saunders also netted as City scored three goals in each half.

Goalkeeper Bekki Warr made two great saves when Spalding did threaten. while Lisa Deacon and Kate Dixon marshalled the defence well at sweeper and left back respectively.
