The hosts scored early in each half to claim a comfortable win and move into second place themselves. City are down to fourth with just one match to go so promotion is also now most unlikely.

Goalkeeper Bekki Warr was City’s star performer making several fine saves to keep her side in touch. City played their best hockey in the final quarter. but couldn’t break through a well-drilled home defence.

Wisbech remain hot favourites for the title after their 8-0 thrashing of relegated Letchworth. A win over lowly Blueharts next Saturday (March 19) would seal top spot.
