City of Peterborough have won through to the Under 18 National Indoor Finals after being crowned East Regional champions at the weekend.

They were the pride of the East at Oakland College in St Albans on Sunday when winning all four of their games against opposition from Beds, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

They started with an 8-0 win over Shefford and Sandy through goals by Sam Anderson (5), Manish Patel (2) and Oscar Sadikot.

And then they saw off Old Loughtonians 2-0, Harleston Magpies 2-1 and Sudbury 3-0. The win against Magpies arrived in the dying seconds when Patel scored from a short corner routine.

Other goalscorers were Arthur Franklin, Nicky Reddy and Daniel Wadsworth.

The National Finals are on January 23 and 24 at Nottingham Trent University.

The triumphant City squad was: Cameron Goodey, Ieuan Williams, Oscar Sadikot, Sam Anderson, Arminder Mann, Manish Patel, Nicky Reddy, Peter Taylor, Arthur Franklin, Daniel Wadsworth, Kunal Patel, Henry Skrobot. Team Manager - Munir Sadikot, Head Coach- Mike Yeoman. Coach  - Sam Biccarino.

Veteran striker Ian Kennedy scored a last-gasp winner as City of Peterborough eighths pipped bottom club Ely seconds 5-4 in a re-arranged East Division Fourth West match on Saturday.

Ryan Evans scored twice on his first start of the season, while Wayne Humphries and Nathan Rozario were also on target.

Spalding were surprisingly beaten in a 12-goal Premier Division thriller by lowly Cambridge University seconds. Dan Needham (3), Joe Rogers and Stuart Cunnington got their goals.
