Gough and Cassells give Phantoms a double boost

PHANTOMS have pulled of a stunning signing coup by persuading star forward Brent Gough to stay with the club. And the city side have also added to their firepower by persuading Jason Cassells to drop down a level from Elite League club Edinburgh Capitals.
Fears had grown in recent weeks that 26 year-old Gough would not be coming back to the Peterborough Arena where he was instrumental in last season's unprecedented treble success.
But after the club moved heaven and earth to secure the services of their all-time top scorer, Gough put pen to paper this week.
Gough said: "I am really excited about another year in Peterborough and the new challenges that are in front of the team.
"Retiring did cross my mind and the thought of settling down with my fiance, buying a house and living in one place seemed great but, after speaking with Phantoms management, I decided I wanted to continue playing hockey and I am confident that is the right decision."
Cassells spent the first half of the season in the English Premier League with Telford Tigers amassing 66 points from 33 games before making the switch to Edinburgh
And it's clear Cassells is just as excited about playing for Phantoms as new team-mate and fellow Canadian Gough.
Cassells said: "I am sure it is going to be a very exciting season. There are a number of great players returning to the club and as far as myself coming in, I pride myself on my hard work and taking care of both ends of the ice."
