And there was further good news for the club after Bourn were beaten 6 and 4 for a place in the semi-finals of the Burridge Cup.
GREETHAM youngster Jordan Burdall shaved another slice off his handicap with a win in the club's June medal.
Burdall's handicap came down to 4.8 after his efforts and he looks well on course to achieve his target of three by the end of the year.
LOCAL interest in the English Counties Golf Championship came to an end at Sandwell Park on Saturday.
With Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire both taking part in the Midland Counties qualifier at the West Midlands course, hopes were high of a decent showing.
But after failing to hit form, Northants struggled to seventh while Anglian League leaders Cambridgeshire fared even worse, ending up bottom of the pile.
Staffordshire now progress to the English final later this summer after taking top spot with an aggregate score of 880 from the 36 holes played by each of their six man team.
THORNEY Lakes member Steve MacClennan looks sure to have his handicap cut after a blistering round during a club stableford.
MacClennan picked up a whopping 49 points, more than enough to guarantee he won't be playing off 21 for much longer.
THE Stamford Festival Golf Day held at Burghley Park proved to be a massive success with almost 4,000 raised for charity.
