GOLF: Gedney Hill pair do well in Dubai

David Lord and Rob Newns qualified for the final of the League to Dubai golf competition after winning the Southern Regional Final at Tudor Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Maidstone last October.

And they did themselves proud in the 54-hole final which was played on three different courses.

They scored 38 points in round one on the Arabian Ranches course, 35 points in round two on the Jumeirah Fire course and 33 points in round three on the Jumeirah Earth course.

Around 750 pairs originally entered so they were both delighted to achieve third place in the overall competition.

Lord said: “What a fabulous, fabulous experience.”

An added bonus was that Lord was in the winning team of a nine-hole floodlit challenge played at Dubai Creek Golf Club.
