Georgina Jennings was the star of the show when four Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) members competed in the European Triathlon Sprint Championships in Lisbon at the weekend.

The fleet-footed veteran retained her gold medal in the 70-74 age group after finishing nine minutes clear of her nearest rival.

The distances were swim 750 metres, bike 13.4 miles and run three miles and Jennings finished in 97:13.

Simon Hoppe came sixth in his age group to maintain his record of never having been outside of the top 10 in the European Championships.

Henry Morton recorded the fastest PACTRAC time in 65:10 for 14th place in his age group, while Steve Hope exceeded all expectations and also finished 14th.

PACTRAC also won a gold medal at the European Masters Swimming Championships at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park through Nicola Latty,

She won the gold medal in the 200m butterfly in a time of 2:34.84. She was 2nd after the first 50 metres, had a slight lead after 100 metres, and then pulled away to win by 6.75 seconds.

She was only four and a half seconds away from an event record in her age group.

PACTRAC’s Ros Goatly was fifth female finisher and first in her age group in the Newmarket SuperSprint Triathlon (swim 300m, bike 14 miles, run 2.5 miles. 2 laps.. Her time was 69:28.

The second PACTRAC Mini-Series Triathlon at Oundle was won by Jaap Flikweert in 54:57.

Runner-up in 57:40 was Ricky Dear with Andy Gregg third in 58:16.

First lady was junior Hannah Bassett in a new PB time of 64:40.

PACTRAC junior Olivia Corner finished an excellent second in the East Essex Junior Triathlon TS2 race. Clubmate Matt Wouldham had the the fastest swim time but slipped back to finish a creditable 11th in the youths race.
