Full-time: Posh 1, Barnsley 2

Peterborough United dropped back into the Championship relegation zone after a lacklustre home loss at the hands of fellow strugglers Barnsley.

Peterborough United dropped back into the Championship relegation zone after a lacklustre home loss at the hands of fellow strugglers Barnsley. All was going according to plan when George Boyd stroked home his 10th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after Gaby Zakuani had been dumped on the deck by Barnsley defender Darren Moore.

But things quickly went downhill. Big striker Daniel Bogdanovic levelled little over a minute later and Jon Macken smashed a second for the visitors six minutes before the break.

Posh rarely looked like levelling during a laboured second-half display. Lee Frecklington went close with a curler and skipper Aaron Mclean was denied by a fine block from Barnsley captain Stephen Foster.

Posh are only kept off the bottom of the table by virtue of a better goal difference then Ipswich. Town, Plymouth and Reading all won today.
