Fulham news: Old boy Davies is ruled out through injury

PLENTY of famous Premiership faces should be on show again at London Road on Saturday - but sadly Simon Davies will not be amongst them.

PLENTY of famous Premiership faces should be on show again at London Road on Saturday - but sadly Simon Davies will not be amongst them.Welsh international Davies - the most successful of an excellent crop of youngsters to emerge from the famed London Road production line in the late 1990s - is denied a return to where it all began by injury.

Davies is still sidelined with a stress fracture of the foot sustained towards the end of last season. He has been ruled out of Fulham's opening Europa League game against FK Vetra or HJK Helsinki next Friday and could even miss the start of the Premier League campaign.

FULHAM boss Roy Hodgson has made two summer signings so far.

Bjrn Helge Riise (the skilful midfield playing brother of former Liverpool defender John Aarne Riise) arrived earlier this week from Norweigan club Lillestrom for an undisclosed fee.

Hodgson's only other capture is Birmingham right-back Stephen Kelly.

FULHAM have spent most of their summer Down Under.

Hodgson took his men to Australia for their first three friendly fixtures - a 2-1 defeat to Gold Coast United, a 3-0 victory over Melbourne Victory and a 5-0 triumph against Perth Glory.

A 0-0 draw at League Two side Bournemouth on Tuesday (a match in which they failed to beat former Posh keeper Shwan Jalal) was their first outing on these shores.

Hodgson started with a strong side at Dean Court including England striker Andrew Johnson, midfield maestro Danny Murphy and defensive star Brede Hangeland.
