UNDER 18: JORDAN Hayes chalked up his fourth hat-trick of the season as Spalding beat Sawtry 6-1 in the first round of the PFA Cup.After going a goal down at Greenfields, an Eddie Lattimore header saw the Division Two leaders back on terms before Hayes curled a beauty into the top corner to put the visitors in front.
And when Hayes' mazy run into the area was ended illegally by a Sawtry defender, the young hotshot picked himself up to fire home the resulting penalty.
Sawtry did make a concerted effort to get back into the game but with the Spalding back line of Sam Deykin, Sam Pickering, Ash West and Ross Woods in excellent form there was no way through for the home side.
And when Hayes completed his treble after poking home a Lattimore cross, it was all over for Sawtry but there was still time for a couple more super Spalding strikes.
First Alex Lyon stepped up to wallop home a peach of a free-kick before Pierce Scourfield rounded things off for with a slick finish close in.
Manager Phil Hayes said: "I was pleased with a good all-round performance by the team and we are all looking forward to the next round."
GLINTON have as good a chance as anyone of winning the League Cup this season according to manager Barry Owen.
Four goals for Luke Ball, two for Sam Raynor and one for Chris Rippon saw Glinton safely past P&T Panthers 7-3 and into the third round.
And now Owen's side are in the draw, he sees no good reason why his lads can't go all the way.
He said: "We played some good stuff against P&T and we are very pleased to have got through after going out of the Northants Cup last week.
"And looking at the teams still left in I have to say that we have as good a chance as anyone else of going all the way. At this age group whatever league the teams come from there is not that much difference so anything can happen."
WERRINGTON went top of Division Three after a 3-1 win at home to Ryhall A.
Goals for Nathan Pinnock, Gavin Wong and Chris Back secured the result.
