POSH have drawn a blank in their attempts to bolster the playing squad ahead of Saturday's Championship clash with Middlesbrough at London Road.Manager Mark Cooper revealed today that he tried and failed to sign Arsenal right-back Kerrea Gilbert. He was also unsuccessful in a bid to sign an unnamed centre forward.

Cooper said: "We've exhausted all our avenues. My ears are burning from being on the phone all day and the chairman and Barry Fry have been working hard all day as well."

Central defender Craig Morgan's proposed move to League Two Notts County has fallen through, but left back Jamie Day and striker Ben Wright have moved on loan to Dagenham & Redbridge and Grimsby respectively."
