MANAGER Paul Taylor has quit Ramsey Town just weeks after guiding them to the Peterborough League Premier Division title.Taylor has walked away from the champions feeling 'let down and disappointed' by the club's committee, who he says failed to deliver on promises made at the start of the season.
The dispute centres on the fact that Taylor had been led to believe the club were determined to make the necessary ground improvements to earn promotion to the United Counties League Division One for the upcoming campaign.
But having delivered on his side of the bargain by guiding his young team to the title and the Hunts Premier Cup final, Taylor has become disillusioned after the application was withdrawn.
He said: "I feel totally let down and disappointed, as do the players. It is as though we have been wasting our efforts all season.
"I was told that the application would be followed through and the improvements needed to the ground would be made but it is all talk.
"There are one or two people on the committee who do everything and the rest just talk a good game and they have let this team down badly.
"I know it is not easy to get these things done but it would be nice to at least see some effort being made.
"They were told what needed to be done but there was no action by the deadline at the end of March so our hopes of playing in the UCL have been shattered for another season and I have had enough.
"And worst of all I feel like I have been lying to the lads all season saying to them that it would happen.
"The big shame is that they are all local lads. I really don't think this town realises what it has got and that is a shame as it could be gone before they know it.
"I have been told that they will apply to join the UCL next season but I don't believe it and neither do the players."
It is still unclear what Taylor's immediate plans are but for now he intends weighing up his options and biding his time before plunging back into the game.
He said: "I have plenty of interests away from the game and I will be taking a rest. But for how long I don't know.
"I am not sure what is going to happen to the players but I know a lot of them feel just as let down as I do."
