SWANNY'S WORLD OF SPORT: All-powerful players, Mourinho deserves respect, England were stupid and cocky

I've no idea who I was listening to on the radio as one inane football pundit sounds just like the rest
It's time to respect Jose Mourinho. It's time to respect Jose Mourinho.
It's time to respect Jose Mourinho.

This one, in reaction to a horror tackle from Dele Alli (above) in a European game last week said ‘you can’t take that edge from his game as he wouldn’t be the same player’. No wonder footballers behave as they are all-powerful and without reproach as even their most hideous moments are excused.

MOURINHO DESERVES RESPECT

Say what you like about Jose Mourinho, and we all do, but he treats our cups with great respect. I hope the fans of Liverpool, Bournemouth and other teams who have sacked off a cup this season are suitably jealous of the fun United supporters had at Wembley last weekend.

ENGLAND WERE STUPID AND COCKY

England rugby union coach Eddie Jones let himself down big time after his team’s flattering Six Nations win over Italy last weekend.

I suspect his ranting over Italy’s tactics was designed to cover up another poor display by a side who showed themselves up with their inability to think on their feet.

I, like everyone else, anticipated a huge England win and I only switched the game on as Spurs v Stoke on the other channel was so one-sided.

Dele Alli needs to lose his nasty streak.Dele Alli needs to lose his nasty streak.

But I was captivated by the performance of the Italians and their coach Conor O’Shea (above) should be lauded, not lambasted, for taking advantage of a dopey law.

In contrast England were shown up to be stupid during the game and arrogant after it.
