New Peterborough United left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams is out to make an instant impact at his new club
The 21-year-old signed a two-year deal at the ABAX Stadium today (August 2) after moving from Premier League side Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.
Binnom-Williams has just three training days to force his way into the Posh team for their League One opener at Rochdale on Saturday (August 6).
He has experience of League One football having played for Burton Albion last season and Southend United in the 2014-15 campaign.
“It’s quite a shock to be a Peterborough player,” Binnom-Williams admitted. “I’ve been at Palace for 6-7 years and it’s strange to think I won’t be going back.
“But it’s all about my career now. I need to be playing regularly so I’m delighted to be starting a new chapter at a new club.
“I played against Peterborough for Burton last season and they beat us 3-0 in an FA Cup tie so they are obviously a good side. They play good football as well which suits me.
“I want to settle down quickly now and show how good I am. I want to play on Saturday. That’s putting pressure on myself, but I don’t mind pressure, I can thrive on it.
“I had a great education at Palace, but it’s time for me to kick on in my career.”
Binnom-Williams, who has won England caps at under 18 and under 19 level, made two senior appearances for Palace in the League Cup. He’s also spent time on loan at Forest Green.
Binnom-Williams is not expected to feature in tonight’s friendly at Histon.
