Manager Dave Robertson believes fan power can propel Posh into the League One play-offs.

Robertson has been so pleased with the support he and his players have received in recent weeks, he took the unusual step of going to meet and greet the travelling fans in the stand before Tuesday’s defeat at Preston.

Posh enjoyed the support of over 2.300 fans in last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Doncaster.

“I felt it was right to say thank-you to all the fans who made a three-and-a-half hour trip to support us on a Tuesday night,” Robertson explained.

“The support the team has received in recent weeks has been phenomenal. The management staff and the players are extremely grateful and there is no doubt in my mind that the fans can play a big part in us reaching the play-offs.

“The noise they generated at Doncaster was fantastic and helped us over the line.”

Posh have a crucial game against play-off rivals Chesterfield at the ABAX Stadium this Saturday.

Posh skipper Jack Payne insists the players are aleady over the defeat at Preston.

Payne said: “We’ve won four of the last five games so there can’t be too many grumbles. We know what we have to do between now and the end of the season and we know how to do it.”
