Chairman Darragh MacAnthony says he has reduced the shortlist for the manager’s job at Peterborough United to two candidates.
In an exchange with Posh fans on Twitter app Periscope last night (September 16) MacAnthony avoided giving away too many clues on the identity of the front-runners.
He did admit that they both had experience of managing at either Championship or League One level.
Caretaker-manager Grant McCann will remain in charge for the home League One match with Walsall on Saturday (September 19). MacAnthony will insist that the new manager retains the current Posh coaching set-up.
MacAnthony claimed fans shouldn’t read too much into bookies’ favourite Graham Westley’s attendance at the last two matches.
He also stated that the fans’ favourite for the job Brian McDermott has shown no interest working at Posh.
MacAnthony last night described former Coventry manager Steven Pressley as a ‘good guy and a good manager’ and claimed that a current Championship manager had been in touch with him regarding the vacant position at the ABAX Stadium.
MacAnthony ruled out a move for Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler who is understood to have applied for the job.
MacAnthony revealed that he wants former manager Dave Robertson to return to the club, presumably in his old role as Academy Director.. Robertson has promised him an answer within a fortnight.
