Peterborough United defender Michael Smith has an ‘outside chance’ of featuring against Crawley tonight (August 11), according to Posh boss Dave Robertson.
Smith was ruled out of Saturday’s League One defeat at Rochdale because of a back injury but is hoping to be back for the Capital One Cup first round clash at the ABAX Stadium (7.45pm kick-off).
Centre-back Ricardo Santos could also be involved after recovering from an ankle injury.
And if Santos is in the Posh side he’ll be treading carefully.
For the man in charge of tonight’s match, Rob Lewis, gave Santos two yellow cards the last time he refereed a Posh match.
That match was in March this year when Posh hosted Chesterfield and despite the sending off, Posh won the match 1-0 thanks to a Michael Bostwick goal. Apart from the two yellows for Santos, Joe Newell was the only other player to receive a yellow card in that game.
The Spireites match was only the third time Lewis had refereed a Posh match since he joined the list of Football League referees in the 2005/06 season.
Posh are currently unbeaten in the three matches Lewis has refereed. On top of the Spireites win, Posh beat Hartlepool 4-0 in 2011 and drew 0-0 with Notts County in 2008.
