One-time Peterborough United loanee Saido Berahino could start tomorrow’s (January 30) FA Cup fourth round tie for West Brom at the Hawthorns
Berahino’s proposed move to Premier League rivals Newcastle United looks to have fallen through and the 22 year-old striker could make a rare start for the Baggies against Posh.
His manager Tony Pulis is thight to want to rest star striker Jose Salomon Rondon as West Brom have a key Premier League game against Swansea on Tuesday (February 2).
Pulis insists he will name a strong side though. Berahino played 10 games for Posh when on loan from West Brom as a teenager in 2012, scoring two goals.
He said: “I’ll pick a strong side. It’s a three-game week for us, but if the players are properly managed they will cope.
“I haven’t decided what to do with Rondon. He might start tomorrow and miss our other two games, he might start tomorrow and come off or he might start as a substitute.
“Saido remains our player. He’s been at this club since he was eight and he has a contract for another 18 months-two years and no-one broke his hand to make him sign that contract.”
West Brom will be without injured midfielders James Morrison and Callum McManaman, while other midfielders Darren Fletcher and Chris Brunt are doubtful.
The baggies could include new signing Sandro in their squad.
Possible Baggies line-up.
Dawson, Olsson, McAuley, Evans
Sessegnon, Gardner, Yacob, McClean
Subs: Foster, Chester, Pocognoli, Gamboa, Lambert, Rondon, Sandro
