Marcus Maddison was the match-winner for Posh in yesterday’s 2-1 win (Saturday, August 15) against Colchester United.

Ben Alnwick: Could not be faulted for Bonne’s goal, but should have seen red for using his arm to tackle Massey as he burst through 5

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling: Went off injured towards the end of the first-half. Had been fairly solid until that point 6

Gabriel Zakuani: Strong at the back but as the leader of the defence did not do enough to tackle the poor defensive shape in the first-half which Colchester took advantage of 6

Alex Davey: Looks assured alongside Zakuani but found Massey a difficult proposition when forced to right-back after Adebayo-Rowling’s injury 5

Kgosi Ntlhe: Always looking to get forward but there was a huge hole at the back which Colchester kept exploiting, particularly for their goal 5

Harry Anderson: Deservedly kept his place after starring on Tuesday. A couple of positive runs and a fierce shot over the bar brought good applause but there was not enough of an end product. Always looked to go forward which will endear him to fans 6

Jermaine Anderson: Harsh to say but it’s hard to remember much of a contribution. A few simple passes but little else of note 5

Michael Bostwick: Similar to Jermaine Anderson and it felt like just against Rochdale that Posh were outplayed in midfield. Too much space for the Posh defence to have to defend against 5

Marcus Maddison: Looked like he could have been hooked off but then turns match winner with a cross/shot which flies in and a shot which should have been saved. Was much more consistent in the second-half when he took advantage of an open game to show his quality 8

Joe Gormley: It’s been a real struggle so far for the striker. Missed chances are the story after all three matches, epitomised here by a poor touch in front of goal after the goalkeeper had come and missed a cross. Colchester felt he should have seen red for 5

Conor Washington: Had few chances to find the net, and when he did he was flagged for offside. Also volleyed over in the first-half from a difficult height 6

Substitutes:

Ricardo Santos: (for Adebayo-Rowling, 38) 6 - Played a couple of nice chipped passes and made a crucial defensive clearance

Jack Collison: (for Jermaine Anderson, 69) 6 - Always bring some assurance in possession

Jon Taylor: (for Harry Anderson, 78) 6 - Little time to impress
