There were a few poor displays by Peterborough United’s players in a 2-0 League One defeat at Blackpool today (December 19).

Midfielder Chris Forrester took the Peterborough Telegraph’s man-of-the-match award.

Ben Alnwick: Pulled off a great penalty save, but unlucky to see rebound fall straight back to the penalty-taker. A virtual spectator in the second-half after some dodgy moments with the ball at his feet before the break 6

Michael Smith: Played with a lot of spirit and almost scored with a shot that squirmed through the ‘keeper’s hands. Defended okay, but couldn’t find one of his goal-creating crosses 6

Callum Elder: Limped off after just 16 minutes which was a blow as he’s been one of the key Posh attackers in recent weeks.

Ricardo Santos: Horrible start to the game and he didn’t really recover. His timing was all over the place, could have been sent off in the first minute and made too many rash decisions/challenges for the rest of the game 4

Michael Bostwick: A big dip in his recent standards. Part of a defence that played terribly in the first-half when his passing and judgement was often poor. Some ambitious shooting from distance 5

Chris Forrester: Did his best to get the Posh passing game going, but he received precious little support from his team-mates who were sluggish and unresponsive 7

Martin Samuelsen: Failed to get into the game on his full debut. Not entirely his fault as everyone had an off day. Just the odd neat touch 5

Erhun Oztumer: Can’t fault him for effort and drive, but for once even he couldn’t find the killer pass or shot. One fine late effort from distance was well saved 6

Jon Taylor: Tried hard, but little came off for him or any other attacking player. One first-half shot was well saved 5

Conor Washington: Quiet to the point of being anonymous. Can’t blame him entirely for that as he was smothered by a massed defence and there was never the threat of a decent pass from a team-mate 5

Lee Angol: No impact in his 45 minutes on the pitch apart from one driving early run past a couple of Blackpool players. Substituted at half-time 5

Substitutes

Andrew Fox: (for Elder, 16 mins). He looks a decent footballer, comfortable on the ball, but he’s no Callum Elder in the left-back position 6

Marcus Maddison: (for Angol, 46 mins). Disappointing. Couldn’t impact the game from a wide area despite seeing plenty of the ball. A couple of good crosses and one decent long-range shot 5

Souleymane Coulibaly: (for Samuelsen, 67 mins)

Harry Beautyman: (not used).

Dion-Curtis Henry: (not used).

Jack Baldwin: (not used).

MIles Addison: (not used).
