Peterborough United are set to announce Graham Westley as their new manager.
The Peterborough Telegraph understands the former Preston and Stevenage manager will be unveiled at a press conference at the ABAX Stadium tomorrow afternoon (September 21, 2pm).
Westley (47) has been seen at the last three Posh matches, including yesterday’s (September 19) 1-1 League One draw at home to Walsall.
Westley will replace Dave Robertson who was sacked after just six matches of the current League One season. It’s expected caretaker-boss Grant McCann, who has seen Posh take four points from two matches under his care, will remain at the club.
Westley was this morning (September 20) 1-5 with Sky Bet to become the next Posh manager. He was less popular in a Peterborough Telegraph poll conducted this week when just 1% of those who took part declared they would like to see him in charge at the ABAX Stadium.
Westley had his greatest success as a manager at Stevenage. He led an unfashionable club to back-to-back promotions from the Conference to League One between 2009 & 2011. He also led them to the League One play-off positions in the 2011-12 season before leaving suddenly to take the manager’s post at Preston North End.
Westley was less successful at Deepdale and was sacked after 13 months. Westley returned to Stevenage but following a League Two play-off semi-final defeat at the hands of Southend last May his contract was not renewed and he has been out of football since then.
The Peterborough Telegraph understands Westley met recently with Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony in Florida after flying out to the United States at his own expense.
