Peterborough United’s director of football Barry Fry has played down recent reports in Ireland that Derry City playmaker Patrick McEleney is set to move to the ABAX Stadium.

McEleney had a trial at Posh earlier this month cut short when he suffered an ankle injury 20 minutes into a reserves team friendly at Birmingham City.

Fry told the Derry Journal: “Our manager Graham Westley likes him a lot although we are concerned about the number of injuries Patrick has suffered. We might still take a punt on him, but nothing will be decided until I have a meeting with the manager and the chairman after the Barnsley game (November 24),”

Derry are demanding a £150,000 fee for the 23 year-old.
