Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed there will be no new players in the squad for tomorrow’s (February 10) League One clash with Gillingham at the ABAX Stadium.
The loan transfer window opened today (February 9), but Posh are prepared to wait to ensure that any newcomers would be able to stay at the club until the end of the League One play-offs. Loan players can only remain at a club for 90 days and the League One play-off final is scheduled for May 24.
Centre-back Gaby Zakuani will also be absent tomorrow as he does not return from the African Cup of Nations until Wednesday (February 11). Zakuani played 90 minutes of Congo’s semi-final defeat at the hands of eventual champions Ivory Coast and 120 minutes of a third place play-off win over hosts Equitorial Guinea. DR Congo won that game on penalties after a goalless draw.
Posh have now ruled out a move for one-time target Leyton Orient centre-back Mathieu Baudry.
