MATCH PREVIEW: McCann set to name his first-choice XI
McCann said after Tuesday’s (July 19) disappointing defeat at the hands of a West Ham XI he would field the players who had impressed him the most in pre-season for the visit of Leeds.
McCann said today (July 22): “The players are well aware that we need to step it up now. We are two weeks away from the start of the season and everyone needs to realise that because it will be here very quickly.

“The players have forced my hand a bit. THose who have done best in pre-season will start against Leeds, although it’s not too late for others to force their way in.”
The loan transfer of left-back Callum Elder from Leicester has yet to go through.
Striker Lee Angol will be absent through injury.
