The Leicester City left-back has returned from a pre-season tour to Austria with the Premier League champions and is expected to sign a new contract offer at his parent club.

That would then leave him free to re-join Posh on loan. The 21 year-old was a huge success at Posh last season until picking up an injury.

“Our manager wants him and hopefully he will be here.”

Fry also confirmed that transfer-listed midfielder Harry Beautyman has spent this week training with League One rivals Oldham Athletic. It’s understood he played 45 minutes of last night’s friendly defeat at the hands of Preston.

Fry added: “Oldham are keen on him, but Harry is a London lad so I’m not sure he will go there.”

Posh want a fee for the 24-year-old.

Ambitious League Two club Plymouth remain interested in former Posh captain Jack Payne, but the player’s wages are belived to be a stumbling block.

Posh will make a decision today (July 20) on whether or not to extend the trial period of striker Morgan Ferrier.
