Peterborough United’s reserve goalkeeper Joe Day has signed for Newport County in a club record transfer deal for the League Two side.

Day spent a successful time on loan at Newport earlier this season making 16 appearances in three months. Newport’s current club record free is £20,000.

The 24 year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract. He made just four appearances in four years at Posh following a move from Rushden & Diamonds.

Day last appeared for Posh in the Good Friday defeat at Bradford City last season. Newport are in cracking form and currently sit fifth in League Two.
