Grant McCann has praised caretaker-manager Dave Robertson for bringing the fun back to Peterborough United.
McCann is part of Robertson’s coaching team at the ABAX Stadium after returning to Posh following a brief spell playing for Linfield FC in Northern Ireland, the team he supported as a boy.

McCann has confirmed that he is unlikely to play for Posh again, but that he would love an extended stay in a coaching role under a manager he rates very highly.
“There is no better man than Dave Robertson for me to learn from,” McCann stated. “I spent six months working with him last year and his attention to detail and the way he talks to players is different class.
“I never really wanted to leave the club so making the decision to come back was a very easy one for me.
“I never really knew where I stood at the start of the season. Was I a player or a coach?
“But now I don’t think about playing. I want to coach a really great bunch of lads.
“You can notice the difference with the first team players since Dave took over. I can’t speak for how the players were feeling under the previous regime, but they now come into work with a smile on their faces and they remain happy until they leave the ground.
“Dave knows when to put an arm round a player. Sometimes that’s all a young player needs. The response from the players to David has been immense as well.
“They’ve given two outstanding performances so far, but we must not stand still. The next game after two wins on the bounce is usually very tough so it’s vital the concentration and commitment levels remain high.
“Some of the individual displays have been outstanding though.
“Some said Michael Bostwick couldn’t play in central midfield, but on his last two displays I’d say he is the best in that position in this division.”
