City man Steve Evans appears to have ruled out a move to Posh in the summer.
The arrival of Evans to manage Posh at the end of the current campaign has been a persistent recent rumour, but in two radio interviews since he guided Rotherham United to survival in the Championship on Tuesday, he has expressed a wish to stay in South Yorkshire.
Evans said: “It’s common knowledge that I would love to manage Peterborough United one day. I have had a home in the area for 20 years and my in-laws and family support the club.
“I have great respect for chairman Darragh MacAnthony and I get on great with Barry Fry, but they are probably the right club at the wrong time right now.
“I work for a fantastic chairman at Rotherham and our journey is not over yet.
“I have no real desire to be anywhere else than Rotherham next season.”
