Your Posh views: on new signing Tyrone Barnet
Peterborough United news and match coverage.
YOUR views on Tyrone Barnett’s million pound transfer to Posh as told on twitter to @swannyposh and on www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk
Fantastic signing! This is the sort of news that should really send a message to everyone that Posh want to progress further. Well done to Darragh for stumping up the dosh. Can’t wait to see him banging in the goals that will hopefully take us up to mid-table this season.
Mean Mr Mustard
“A strong, quick, goal-scoring striker. Just what we needed, and once again Darragh supports Fergie in signing a top target.”
@jones_jamie
“Hope price tag doesn’t put too much pressure on him. Potentially a super signing just hope he is given time to settle in side.”
@StevenAdams2
“Barnett needs 10 goals, four assists and three man-of-the-matches to be a good investment.”
@posh_mad
“Should be good signing after seeing YouTube video of his goals. Wonder whether he will start straight away or be on bench.”
@Bloodworthjames
“Let’s hope he lives up to expectations and becomes a prolific goalscorer as that’s what we’ve been missing.”
@stuboy34
“Posh have been missing a proven goalscorer since CMS left. Let’s hope Barnett fits the bill! What a chairman!”
@Kezzaweave
“If he can convert our chances into goals it’s a smart investment. League status over future profit in this signing methinks.”
@SuperPosh7
“Emile Sinclair seems like a poor man’s Barnett.
Could be a great capture, although it’s a gamble re price.”
@_greggor
“If he can continue his good form then yes a good signing! Not seen him, but he sounds like the powerful centre forward that we sometimes lack.”
@joeGB
“Good signing for the team. He should fit well with the team and give a different dimension to the attack.”
PaulGal5
“Brilliant news, by all accounts very good sought after player.”
Genghis Khant
“At last a target man and someone to supply at corners.”
henryjames
“I hope this lad lives up to his billing. We must all give him a chance and not bite his head off too early if he fails to deliver in a couple of games.
Johnymac

Monday, February 27, 2012 at 07:03 PMThe lad Barnet looks a class act. As soon as he came on we were threatening Doncaster in the air, despite the fact that they were packing their box with defenders. I had forgotten what that was like. He has good ball control too. Probably we now have a player that the other strikers can feed off and feed. I suspect Ball will be a good foil for him, reminding me of Dougan and Deakin. But he seemed to enliven Sinclair; they could well work together and be a real handful for any defence. Now the midfielders have a reliable target too.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 06:54 PMpleased with this signing and hopefully a decent centre half to help get us to the end of the season on the way.i think we have several good prospects for strikers and we should remember they are all still learning their trade having stepped up the divisions with the exception of ball and ajose.how any of you think you can write off players as not good enough or bad signings especially if they have played less than half a game is beyond me,but having seen some of the clueless comments on here in recent weeks then i should not be so surprised.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 03:46 PM@13 yes I am serious, why are you not? from your usual posts I always thought u were a bit of a joker: Stats League only - Paul Taylor Started 21 games subbed on 7 Games 8 Goals 3 Assists, Lee Tomlin Started 20 games subbed on 4 games 7 Goals 6 assists, Emile Sinclair Started 18 subbed on 6 games 7 goals 4 assists, David Ball 5 starts 9 subs 3 goals no assists. If we go on games started Paul Taylor and Sinclair are equal score once every 3 games on average with only David Ball beating them on average goals per game. So I do not need to justify my post as the stats do this for me.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 02:38 PMAre you serious? He is a sprinter, nothing more. Certainly not a footballer. Hopefully he has appeared for us for the last time.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 02:09 PM@11, I agree I think Sinclair is a good player, he's offered us something we didn't have before and maybe he's not quite there yet, but I think he will get there. I think Fans have been harsh on the lad, all of these sitters he missed, well I wouldn't class most of them as sitters, but with this Barnett coming in to the squad I doubt we will see much more of him. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 01:43 PM@10 Growler... Sinclair, in my opinion, is a good player. Fans views have no place in my thinking.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 01:29 PM@7 Yes the word is "hopefully". I was optimistic when we signed Ajose, bad signing. Also optimistic when we signed Sinclair and it wasn't long ago on these posts DonB was saying what a great player Sinclair was, bad signing. I've never seen him play but lets hope he fits in with our style of play. Trying to be positive UTP.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 12:14 PM@7, possibly, but i do hope its because Sinclair and Ajose have no future at the club instead.
