Rovers without a host of players
TRANMERE boss Les Parry reckons he will have a stronger team in the treatment room than on the Prenton Park pitch tomorrow.
Parry, who ironically was promoted from physio to first-team manager when Tranmere realised the error of letting John Barnes run the team, has virtually a full starting XI unavailable tomorrow.
It’s not ideal in the run-up to a match against a team Parry believes have the best forward unit in the division.
Parry said: “Peterborough struggled in their first away game, but they’ve been scoring goals for fun since then.
“I’ve just had the scouting report on their last two games and the assessment is the two lads up front and the two wide players are probably the best forward unit in our division. That is the size of the task we are facing.
“But last season we did pretty well against the better sides in the division and there is no reason why this season can’t be the same.
“Everyone knows we have not won at home yet, but it will come. I don’t want to put any pressure on us by saying this is a must-win game because it isn’t.
“However, what we will do is everything we can to try and win it.
“We have a lot of players unavailable through injury. Our physio, Steve Wilson, has a stronger side in the treatment room than I will be putting out on the pitch tomorrow.
“But I don’t like to complain about injuries or use them as an excuse. We have some good young players here with spirit and flair.”
Senior players who are already ruled out through injury are Marlon Broomes (centre back), Nick Wood (centre back), Ash Taylor (centre back), Joss Labadie (midfielder), Paul McLaren (midfielder), Alan Mahon (midfielder) and John Welsh (midfielder).
Tranmere’s most recognisable face, striker Ian Thomas-Moore, is also doubtful.
Tranmere only survived the drop last season by winning their final two matches of the season against promoted Millwall and relegated Stockport.
