BURNLEY will not be under-estimating out-of-form Posh when the teams clash in the Championship at Turf Moor on Saturday.

On paper it’s a home banker. Burnley have won eight of their last 11 League fixtures to zoom up from 21st to ninth in the table, while Posh have been heading steadily in the other direction, particularly during their current run of three successive defeats.

But Burnley boss Eddie Howe, who turned down the chance to manage Posh when Darren Ferguson left London Road in November 2009, is taking nothing for granted.

Howe said: “They’ve been hard to beat on their travels. They’ve got some really good results at some tough grounds, which is full credit to their players and their management staff for their attacking philosophy.

“They don’t change from game to game. They will play the same way and they stick to their beliefs. It got them promotion last year from a very tough division.

“I think Peterborough are a dangerous side. They’re dangerous in that they commit bodies forward and have good attacking players, but they’re quite open in their gameplan.

“I’m not sure whether you’d say that would suit us or not. We’ll wait and see.

“They beat us earlier in the season which was a really tough day, but again it’s a lesson for us to look back, to learn the lesson of that day and say again, like with Middlesbrough, let’s show them that we’re a better team now

“It would be nice to keep our good run going. Our home form’s been okay of late, but we won’t underestimate Peterborough at all, it’s going to be a difficult game.

“We know in this league you have to be at your best to win.”

Burnley’s recent run has increased optimism at Turf Moor that promotion back to the Premier League can be achieved after a two-season break.

Howe added: “A lot can happen between now and the end of the season. There are some sides in some good form and sides who are perhaps not in such good form above us.

“It’s tightened right up, even the top two sides who seemed to be running away with it have now been clawed back a bit.

“So everyone quite rightly thinks they’re in with a chance, probably as far down as some sides just above the relegation zone.

“With so many game left anything could still happen.”
