Posh not looking for a Matt finish
Peterborough United news and match coverage.
POSH director of football Barry Fry insists the club won’t make a bid for non-league striker Jamille Matt (below).
Fry has watched the 21 year-old Kidderminster Harriers hitman - the scorer of 10 goals at Blue Square Premier Division level this season - in action. Manager Darren Ferguson is also understood to have attended a Kidderminster fixture earlier this week.
But Posh won’t follow up their interest with an offer for the former Sutton Coldfield Town player.
Fry said: “I watched the player about six weeks ago and we’ve had another look at him since.
“We haven’t made a bid for him though and we won’t be making one.”
League Two strugglers Northampton had offers for Matt rejected last month.
Ferguson said yesterday he ‘wouldn’t have thought’ Posh will make a signing in this transfer window.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 02:11 PMWe're Glossing over the issues, the squad looks tired and needs an injection of new blood just to reinvigerate them. We've got rid of quite alot of the deadwood and squad cover, we really need one or two just to provide a little competition for places and add some fresh ideas....
